Alexandra Rainolt

Artist & Athlete is a series I created this academic year to display the athleticism of dancers. Taking members from the American University Dance Team, I posed them in the places we usually automatically associate with athleticism. As pictured, the dancers are graceful, but dressed in running sneakers and athletic wear as opposed to the flowing dresses and bare feet we are so used to seeing in dance photography. The dancer is an athlete and an artist and deserves equal recognition in both fronts.
